Signs your gas stove needs attention
Irregular flames, repeated ignition failure or knobs that no longer work normally are reasons to stop and investigate safely rather than forcing the appliance to run.
Common warning signs
- Repeated ignition failure or clicking that does not stop.
- Weak, uneven or unusual flame behaviour.
- Burners that are damaged or cannot be controlled normally.
- Knobs or valves that stick or appear damaged.
If you smell gas: do not light flames or operate electrical switches. Turn off the gas supply if safe, ventilate, leave the area and contact your gas provider or emergency services.
Arrange a professional inspection
Do not dismantle gas valves or pipes yourself. Contact a qualified service professional and ask for a clear estimate before repair.
